I am a Patriot. Doesn't the RRGCC know that there was a conflict with important national holiday events?

GUess Kato should have been at Derbyfest.

I am talking to Johnny to burn extra copies of the presentation that he gave at Derbyfest to give out to sponsors, etc. Alot of your questions are answered there.

Thanks Lynne for your help. The Board is meeting this weekend to work on our goal/objective list. I will try to give an update ASAP. Once again due to poor volunteer base at this point, the current volunteer staff has been unable to keep up with the website more consistantly. So anyone that would be willing to act as host & server and are very accessible, please let me know! We have a ton of stuff that needs to be done!

See, Gretchen, you're saying Help Me! The cannibals are boiling me in a big pot! What you should be saying is, come on over for dinner! There will be plenty to eat!

you just said in another thread:

"We put a schedule out so people can see the whats going on. Sometimes we have to switch thingss around depending on HOW the event is running. The point is, if the climbers are there from the getgo, then they don't miss all the good opportunities. If we waited until 10PM, the band would have been playing to thin air. We have to make hard judgement calls on the spot to maximize the experience. Can't always stick to the schedule!"

i too was on my way to see odub at 10 pm...LIKE THE FLYER AT MIGUELS KIOSK SAID. we also had a number of other people on the way as well, however we were informed as we were leaving that the show was over.

believe me lynne, i really wanted to see odub more than anything in this world. i was even psyched about your team gang bang shirts and about the possibility of being tied down and having whip cream all over me. cocktoberfest was pretty big right? what was the difference?

HF, you're just the person to set the RRGCC right. Thanks for your insight and volunteering. I'll email you on the next scheduled meeting.

here's another thing. that stuff started at 7 right? it doesn't get dark until 9, which probably means many people climb till 9. then they gotta eat.

So far the poll would indicate that about half the people had some type of conflict with the Memorial Day weekend. The Lame Wades are either too lame to fess up or too lame to be regular participants on the bbs? My opinion is that to be successful, the RRGCC really has to take this directly to the climbing community. I can tell you from both marketing experience and training that if you only put up flyers, have a website, send out mailings, you will be lucky to get a 3% response and that is with impeccable copy. A well worn but true marketing phrase is that, "The fortune is in the follow-up". Take that slick brochure Kato envisions and mail it to the membership, hand it out at gyms, hand it out at Miguel's, the crag, etc. Then follow-up face-to-face or on the phone.

The idea of scoping out a budget of different ways to get the money is also an excellent idea. Most people will not be willing or able to put up the big bucks to sponsor a route or whatever. But almost everyone would be willing to put down a $20 spot.

The idea of having Rocktoberfest at Miguel's also follows the concept of taking the campaign to the climbers. HF also has a good point about people staying at the crag late. I know that was the case with the friends I had been climbing with. I left early to go to the event but they climbed late and then just went to crash at Miguel's. Maybee it would be a good idea to schedule these events outside of the daylight savings time period.

The reason that we have not held events at Miguel's up to date is that we don't want to abuse his facilities such as parking. Let me look more into this idea and get back to you. And we certainly do not want to overwhelm Miguel!

Steve, what's that that you agree with Gretchen on? If it's shutting down the Red we'll be tying you in your rope before we cut it!
