If I can kill it I can eat it, if I can't then I can't. I find butchering chickens unsavory business. Visions of the Fr. Revolution and some of my favorite mathematicians philosophers and scientists dying by guillotine are difficult to suppress. We used to do butcher chickens in the wilds of Wisconsin when I was growing up. In retrospect, I thank my mother for this experience which afforded me the opportunity for introspection.

When WWII was nearing its close the young men returning in bags from Nam were autopsied. A lot of data was collected including what our American diet was doing to 19-year-olds. Many were well on their was to arterial sclerosis.

I feel better without a major meat component to my diet and two meals a day, one heavier one light with fruit. We are monkeys; hit the fruit!

[quote="Brentucky"]i'm just awaiting the day when some superior-minded aliens come down with a craving for some of us yummy humans! hopefully they'll recognize the law of "treat others the same you would like to be treated" and let me slide a little closer to the bottom end of the list.

hopefully they will eat the fat ones first

If it tastes good, I'll eat it. Meat gives me power. If I didn't eat meat, I'd have to actually train for power....

My cholesterol level went from 230 to 170 in two months when I stopped eating meat. Getting enough protein and iron requires a little work, but its all good. Standard old hippy reasons for me as well.

Oh, and humans are not carnivores.
