This is all about a literal interpretation of the bible so dating the Flood is not that hard to do with all the begats and stuff. Laying aside all the other ridiculous impossibilities in that endeavor, IT happened according to Answers in Genesis: "Biblical data places the Flood at 2304 BC +/- 11 years."
According to this site: http://members.aol.com/JAlw/flood_myth.html "This would compute the year of the Flood to be 2461 BCE." That site also adds "the obvious problem inherent in that date is that the Egyptians, Chinese and others had flourishing civilizations at the time which seem not to have noticed a world-covering Flood that "destroyed all life"."

There is no way to describe the Flood with a literal reading and have it believable. At best people have believed it with a casual shrug to it's antiquity and not having to put a date on it. That and keeping your audience ignorant. When the world changes around them and the ignorance is harder to maintain, you give them an alternative knowledge.
Like with most lies, the juggling to keep up with the endless stream of Q and A and have them cross reference will be their downfall and they've turned countless people off. I'm afraid it won't be like switching congregations when you find your minister is an embezzling philanderer, but hit a bit deeper for many, especially teenagers. I think the church loses quite a few over this. That's either a good thing or not. I think it's sad.

from what my friend said, they base much on the "fact" of the flood. it just goes to show you what people will do in order to make sense out of something they so badly want to believe is real and true. this is true of all faiths and religions...its human nature.

how old is coal? the common Ky coal, isn't it a product of prehistoric vegetation? I've heard it dated at 50,000 yrs, was somebody blowing grey smoke up my butt here or what? I'm no scientist but if those dates are correct then it makes me think that the living earth may not be that old but the actual mass is like crankmas old, if it can be proven that it takes billions of years to produce coal then the premise is bunk - can one you geologist science dude or dudette help a brother out here.History and Lit majors Rule!

Coal was placed here by Satan to trick us, This is why we must dig it up and burn it. I know I am doing my part.

Thanks Wes, I didn't know they were gonna be highliting my coal ? as well, its not an end all of the debate but its an interesting segment, man can't explain what happened to the Anasazi so I don't find it tough to believe the best minds are profoundly clueless about a host of issues past and present
