i watched "Classic Red" the other day (with the sound turned off of course) and didn't even think about him being there until he popped up on the screen... the close-up of the "sparkling jackass" chalk-bag was quite effective.

We (attempted) to climb TROCS on Friday and I was remembering what a kick Terry was having belaying Brian on the same route.
"Come on Brian, take a whip."
Brian whips and Terry tries to hit the starting ledge with his soft catch.

Nearly three years now. "it's the people, not the pitches." was a big Terryiod. Guess that is true, because the pitches really haven't mattered to me for a long time (nearly three years, though I didn't realize it at first), the people still do.

I really wish you would have made a different choice that day, but it is what it is.

Terry came up again this weekend. My sister(who is not a climber) was with us and I was compelled to tell her that Terry was no longer with us. She looked stunned and said "Wow, people talk about him like they just saw him yesterday!"

He left quite a mark and quite a void.

I hope that his death and the sadness he left in his wake brings some good somehow. . . .

I was tooling through the bbs archives and searched "sunshine" just to reread some of his quotes.
That is a really nice thing about this bbs is that Ray maintains a nice sample of Terry (and John and others who have posted). Thanks Ray.
I can go back at anytime and marvel at what a clever funny dude he was.

I can still hear him talking about Damien and Satan when he would get out to lock his hubs into 4wd. Classic.
I see they are still lopping off mountains in Eastern Kentucky. Electricity isn't cheap.
