Ah, good old human nature. The standards for behavior for everyone are pretty clear, but yet there's always that selfish jerk who has to come in and drop piles of his shit in the way and screw everything up for the rest of us.
I love how the issues at Torrent and the trolling of this thread form such a beautiful metaphorical interplay between each other. It's too bad that I know full well that Joe couldn't even vaguely be up to that level of performance art.

My response to the poll question was "Us..."
Whereas I was a little confused as to what exactly was meant by "Us..." and "Them..." Regardless, I feel that the climbing land doesn't necessarily belong to any one climber and that no climber is entitled to climb on the land. But, it is all of our responsibilities to take care of the land and to leave it in the same or better condition as how we found it (which is why I responded "Us...". That being said, people do a hell of a lot of complaining about having to take a few minutes to log in to reserve one of the few available spots to climb at torrent. But, it doesn't appear that people show any gratitude or the amount of gratitude that is deserved (unless pooping in the middle of the trail and/or overhangs and leaving a pile of TP along with it is a sign of gratitude) for the fact that they get to climb on the PMRP land which is being secured and made available through the hard work of just a few dedicated people in the climbing community (to reiterate what Meadows said on the Torrent page of the online guidebook, one of these peoples is the same man that owns Torrent and yet people are complaining about Torrent).
How much does it cost to climb at Hueco every day? How much does it cost to climb at The Gunks every day? Think about all the loop-holes that you need to jump through to climb at places like those... And people are complaining because 1 crag out of the masses of the crags at the Red has a few regulations in place in order to keep it open at all to the public. I think we should count our blessings because we are lucky to have such a kick-ass place to climb at as the Red with as few restrictions as are currently in place. But who knows how long that will stand if people keep treating the place as they do and running their mouths like they are.
Do what you can to keep the place open and safe. Clean up after yourself and others that may of left a mess. Drop a $5 or a $10 in at Muir, Torrent, and PMRP whenever you climb there... Volunteer and donate at Rocktoberfest, volunteer at trail days to help maintain the property. Donate to TeamSuck and other locals that put timeless money and energy into keeping this place amazing. And if you don't want to do any of these things, then don't climb here!
