I heard BD outsourced their cams? Is it true? If so I would have to prefer Petzl...better France than China.....

define "outsourced"? honestly it depends on how you define it. BD is (or should be by now) making C4's in China BUT they opened their own manufacturing facility in China rather than just having some other company make them. So they have all the same quality controls that BD in salt lake does. the facility is BD China, just like they have BD Europe.

Either way, Black Diamond has their cams made in China for the cheap labor. Why is everyone saying "support America, buy BD". I seriously don't get it. That said, I love my C4s.

Petzl, but I felt that way before RocTrip, and even more so after that. They employ wierd people like Greg Houston, but we can over look it.

If I were paid more at my job and actually climbed more I'd buy spirit draws, but my rack has more BD stuff on it than petzl.
How's life at the KSP these days Sprag?

And if there is a reason as to why you like one over the other, please feel free to enhance. I'm thinking mostly in the sport climbing arena, but if you prefer BD because of their skiing equipment too, please tell! Thanks much!
Petzl Draws, Harnesses, Gri Gri (monopoly on market)
BD for Cams (above everyone else)
You should ask more specifically - BD Draws or Petzl Draws since both are equal in quality mostly - its more personal preference/advertising or whatever.

Just an FYI... Black Diamond just opened their own manufacturing facility in China, complete with a testing facility to test all of their Chinese cams, biners, and harnesses. Not as patriotic as you thought...
