placing items at the top of climbs
i've seen:
a sunflower on sunflower
big old fake spider in the mississippi moon hueco around halloween
bolts and webbing
the giant cairn on tower
diamonds on the ledges on diamond in the crack
and now summit registers on some classic easy trad
was never offended by any of em but am glad it's not prevalent

I wouldn't mind rubber snakes at the bases of climbs, but I think leaving them for someone to find on top as you're topping out on a too short trad climb at Muir is a bit irresponsible.
Having said that, I moved said rubber snake into the crack on Kate's First Trad Lead.
What's even worse is when you are soloing up the flake near The Turret to set up TRs for kids and you almost mantle on a real nest of copperheads and you instinctively respond by jumping off the climb.
Even better than that was the time I killed a small rattlesnake with my bare hands as I mantled up a limestone ledge while out hiking alone.
Toys are cute, rubber snakes will cause you to go to hell.

ha! I knew someone had done that! I'll be sending you my doctor's bill for that.....
News flash, you can walk up to the top of Fortress wall as well as Jewel Pinnacle. Those "summit registers" are trash and should be removed. Tower is one thing, but those are about as lame as a register on Chimney Rock.JB wrote:......and now summit registers on some classic easy trad

Stashing buds is common in other places but they get all moldy around here, or that's what I've heard.
