You said it, I am going to do just what they DON'T want us to do with it, SAVE IT. I can stimulate the economy later.

Well see now that is exactly the damn problem and why the American dollar is becoming more and more devalued every day.

I know most of you are youngins and won't really get this, but the Canadian dollar is worth more than the American dollar. HELLO! That used to be as likely a scenario as flying pigs.

So sure, lower the interest rate, give people checks, make more bad loans, print more money. Why not? PARTAY! Just don't be surprised when everything you have worked for (for those of you that bother to save) is only useful as toilet paper, and then only if you can get it out of the bank.

Also, where the fuck do you people who are excited about this check think it comes from exactly??

pru, you are right...I heard on NPR a good analogy. we are trading a person's personal debt liabilty for the gov't essentially taking over the debt. it is smoke and mirrors.

oh i remember.. and it is a sad day when we're showing so weakly against every currency.. but, thanks to.. well.. economics. as the dollar weakens, we'll look to domestic goods more, in turn boosting the economy, strengthening the dollar. the global market never used to be like it is today.. think of it - if the dollar fails, everyone else is screwed. per capita, we're one of the most consuming nations in the world. if we don't buy other nation's stuff, they're screwed. so believe me, they'll help us. and history is my witness. inflation rates for the past several decades, in line with globalization, have been relatively stable.

as for interest rates, i'm for it. give people/businesses the chance to establish capital.. that's what made this country in the first place. fear inflation if you want but i think i'll sit here and relax, enjoy the way the system as worked for decades, and keep my stress down. if you stress about it, you might not live to see the results of high inflation anyway. maybe that's a form of protection.. either way, i'd rather stick around to see what happens..

by the way, who on this site isn't going to get a refund check? can you tell me why? right, because you're making more than $75k ($150k as a couple). meaning people who are probably hurt most by taxes are actually getting a break.

last i checked, the only income the government makes is from the people (businesses included). so, correct me if i'm wrong, the money was mine in the first place, my paychecks say so.

you seem to be so angry and frustrated at the government.. but you're essentially saying that you're rather pay them several billion dollars for their follies.. doesn't make sense to me.

you want to give people a voice but not a dollar? i don't get it..

but i'm open to the thought they could be wrong about all this.. i'm not tethered to either boat. but no one has given any evidence that this isn't even at its weakest a zero-sum game.. so please, give me some evidence from the other side that i can at least hold, something i can stand on rather than being strapped to the sinking ship of your blind faith.

by the way, this last little bit scared me earlier today.. what alternative way of thinking are you suggesting exactly? would you rather look at the cost/benefit ratio of keeping someone around?

if so, better lock your door.

I won't get a check and my W2 this year won't read 75K+. However, I write off fill-ups to the Red, so I can't bitch too much. :)
