Yeah, I like to add pajama glue to my crag tea. Talk about waking you up!

Cold coffees available in six packs (there are more out there than just the starbucks brand if you are against supporting them) You can pluck those out of the fridge in the AM and go.

and the apple thing is definitely true. When driving long distances, I keep a bag of apples handy. When I was pregnant, the midwife told me the same thing too, that an apple will do more for sleepy eyes while driving than a cup of coffee and it's better for you.

Also - I just tried these self-heating coffee and hot chocolate drinks - found them in the checkout at WalMart. You flip it over, take a lid thing off, and push in on the bottom of the cup thing...takes about five minutes and this little dot on the cover turns white and that's when you know it's ready...it was up there with GOOD gas station coffee and was definitely piping hot! They were 2 for a $1. Not bad.

good luck

Other suggestion - my new addiction - Blueberry cobbler coffee....sounds weird, but has to be the best damn coffee I have ever had. Found it in a little coffee shop up here, I will ship you some beans if you want.

don't believe the hype Wes, caffeine is not a habit you need to kick. Remember all things are good in moderation. My suggestion, give coffee another try but don't try it black. Start out with sugar and cream and let yourself aquire a tast for it then you can slowly get rid of the sugar and cream. I use a coffee maker with a timer and when I get up in the morning... coffee's ready...easy.

Tell me Wes, why do you want to give up soda, but still use caffeine? Your motivations for this act are important to the practice that you choose to adopt.

As for myself I prefer a mix of teas for a natural and antioxidant rich caffeinated drink. I mix Celestial Seasonings True Blueberry or Raspberry Zinger tea (antioxidant) with a little Celestial Seasonings Morning Thunder (Yerba Mate which is high in caffeine and antioxidants), and then add several bags of any brand green tea. I make it in gallon batches and sweeten it with Splenda. This makes a healthy, caffeinated, good tasting beverage. On a trip into the Oregon outback this last summer I drank this stuff from my hydration pack exclusively for 4 days. This may not be wise and I do not advise it, but I felt great the whole time. You will have to go clean of the chemical stuff (Mt Dew) for a few weeks to lose the craving. Apparently the chemicals in it are more addictive than the caffeine.

Another option is to get the caffeinated soap off of Thinkgeek.

Ice-T??

Unorthodox way of caffeinating, but whatever floats your boat!
