Chris McNamara has this to say:

"...in climbing the East Butress they would be the first ever to climb El Capitan."

He goes on to say about the East Buttress:

"...most climbers feel it certainly merits an El Cap designation."

I imagine that if Chris Mac has anything to say about the Captain, we should listen.

To all of you that want to climb an el cap route you must climb something to the left of the east butt. have any of you seen the east butt listed as one of the free routes on el cap??? No because it is not an el cap route....

Also from Tom Evans the gate keeper of el cap on his el cap reports on supertopo writes: "Far east side... ie.. East Butt... yeah I know ... I never report on that climb because it is not recognized as a "real" EC climb.."

OW are telling me that harding did not get the FA of el cap????

am sorry to you all that want to do el cap, but you must sack up and do something longer and harder then the east butt (5.10b IV).
