ashtray, That wasn't BS. KY was officially neutral, but it all changed when an election brought in mostly Unionist reps. Then all hell broke loose. It could be the Union standing or just the location of the state itself that voids its southern standing. I think the accent here says enough though.

So, it isn't the symbol that matters it is the person behind it that does. And while that is what I think is true, that doesn't mean that words and symbols are not painful for some people to deal with because of how they associate them to negative meanings.
A symbol is tangible mark of the inherent value and purpose of people (or it reps. concepts and ideas). In this case, that value is debated. Once meaning is associated, it matters because it is a mode of communication.

Are you serious? To me those lines are fairly "urban",(and played by the way) if you didn't hear them in Bloomington, Ill., seems strange you are hearing them in Lexington, Ky.

rhunt....bloomington is hardly urban....lol....just a town in a cow pasture really.

so I don't fall too far behind, what are the current cool sayings I need to integrate?

meadows, in your opinion, where does the current debate stand with the confederate flag? seems to me it holds more negative energy than anything...

and ashtray, if someone were to display a swastika and tell you it meant "F all y'all"...would that be cool? I am just curious what symbols are completely off limits for personal expression.
