actually my girlfriend prefers to climb on doubles, but i doesn't have to do w/ paranoia about trusting the rope

most people at the Red climb on a single rope, and I was really just pointing that out. One rope = single point of contact.

Unless you count all the little fibers in the rope... then you have about a million points of contact. Oh the redundancy!

Take a closer look at your GriGri if you are worried about a single point of contact. Just one small pin.

Not if you back up your GriGri with an ATC. It's pretty easy to manage once you get used to it.

getting both ropes in the GriGri is tough, but doable

Belay loops are already two loops, one inside the other so there is no need for a backup unless you climb with 2 ropes and have your belayer use 2 belay devices.

Its sad but I bet the campanies that make harnesses are cashing in from Todd's death.
who makes a harness with a better reinforced tie in point. Soon I am gonna have to tape mine like Pigsteak did...LOL I can't wait to tick my "holds"
