As a dog owner I think this is the right move. Not being able to bring dogs to the crag is small, compared to losing the entire cliff.

Asking people to leash their dogs was a very simple request. Telling someone to put their dog on a leash is an easy thing to do. So if you saw leashless dogs and said nothing, well ....

I treat dogs like people. Don't repeatedly step on my rope, snarl at my daughter, or sniff my crotch, or you'll be sent away on a stretcher.
Wow, big man odub. Maybe you can make a song about beating some helpless dogs.
I am a dog owner, I love my dog, but she will not come to the Red to much because it isnt fair to her to stay leashed and its not fair to others if she runs wild. Having said that, I was almost bitten by a dog that was chained up outside of RRO last year, all I did was walk by and wham! snarling, showing teeth, lunging against the chain. I would have killed that dog if it would have gotten loose, and not regreted it one bit. As dog owners we can become miopic about our dogs, and lose all reasoning when dealing with others because of the dogs behaviors that are not acceptable in crowded areas. I salute the Webers for banning dogs, which will limit where I climb when shes with me, but I totally understand.
I have been in Muir valley several times and seen the actual violations that have caused the ban, I educated a few people and they seem to adhere to it. As for how can Rick keep people out with dogs, he does'nt have to police the property, just the parking lot, he can stop it right as you get out of your car, sad it has to come to this, Rick, I support you and if you need help when I'm around, you got it!!!!!! I really appreciate it,
Thanks,

I agree with the Dog Band! It would be nice to also band some of the dog owners that refuse to follow simple rules?

Odub, You might be able to use a DMX song to rock out what Chriss suggested. This could put you on the charts :?

EXACTLY my point. Idiots like you want their dogs treated like people... then get upset when they are.

If you did the same... you'd leave the same.

Rick and Liz:

As always it saddens me to hear of dog problems at the crag. It can be such a terrific climbing experience to have well-behaved dogs around and a royal pain to have ill-mannered ones running rampant. You have been great to Dakota and me. Thanks for all that you do. You have our support for sure.

probably the best choice Rick, its too bad you're forced to do this by the very people you give the privledge to play on your property. Maybe we'll find MV not as crowded next year too, that would be sweet.

Now I need to get working on my doggie day-care business plan. I'll probably need to set up somewhere near MV. :D

I wonder how many pages this thing will get. Hell lets just copy and paste all the other dog discussions so we can read the same shit over and over again.

Lock the thread and put a banner on the home page.

There's that land for sale right before you get to the parking lot. ;) PM me if you want the number - I wrote it down the other weekend out of curiosity, but haven't gotten around to calling yet.

That sign should be posted in the MV parking lot.

I hate this cus my dog loves the red and has no problem being leashed at muir, I think I need to climb at muir more often so that I can say something to those assclowns that cant cooperate.

Didn’t the Torrent climbing ban start this way…..

1- Dogs on leash rule made by Mark
2- Dog owners break the rule.
3- Climbers try to police the dog owners that think the rule doesn’t apply to their dog.
4-Mark makes “no dogâ€
