Damn glad I didn't know that info before~ Years ago, B.C. {before climbing} I went on a guided triped down the Upper with Ace. We had a really good guide then. Not sure if things have changed but that had to have been over 7 years ago or more. Hope you have fun and pay attention CC!
Just genuinely disengenuous.

so jeff does that mean you would liked going with class VI because you had a more experianced hungover guide than you would have with ace. because thats what i got from your post. are you telling me that only ace guides go out and party before work. besides if it wasn't for ace how would people with no experiance get experiance.

Every company trains all there new guides the same way, there is not much difference, ace just trains more because they are the biggest company up there and need more new guides each year. generally new guides won't guide the new in the spring or the gauley in the fall unless they have previous experience, which is the toughest time to run either. Another plus for starting out at Ace is that there is plenty of off river work to be had.

Almoat everyone up there parties at some point that's why once you start guiding and you aren't scheduled you usually can whore yourself out by showinp up at some of the bigger companies early in the morning and pick up a trip for some one who slept in or had a rough night.

Yes I would liked going with class VI because my guide was more experienced...he didn't seem hungover.
Theres no way i could possibly tell you that only Ace guides go out and party before work.
Let the guides from ace get all the experience they want. More power to 'em, you gotta start somewhere!
I'm just telling you my personal experience. Like I said originaly, nothing personal. It was fun to watch for an Ace raft though 'cause they were usually the ones flippin' over in the rapids!
Lighten up.

No. it was my friend who partied with him. It was the night before we showed up from Table Rock. He said he was really cool, his only mistake was trying to keep up with my buddy Jeff! Believe me. I know. I've made that mistake a time or two myself

merrick, there are much cooler opps that a river guide out there... usually qualifications include being 18 years old, some life experience, WFR or equivalent, and clean driving record.

cc, I didn't mean to bust your bubble. I'm sure you will have a blast at the New. I wish I were young enough and in the position to be able to do the same thing!

CC. dont worry about the other people. I have been a guide in the past "not at ace" and can tell you the guides at ace are grade A. Also Ace must be doing something right, after they hired me. I had american white water, class VI and rivers all try to hire me. The guy from rivers was begging me. Also Ace is the largest hence the most new people. Also your young "like me" go out and party, have fun while your young and piss on the rest of the people on here, they are just to old and out of it to guide and are mad.

Merrick, sparky coverd the basic's but the more climbing kayaking exp. you have the easyer it is to get a job. Like me I have many years climbing and kayaking exp. all I had to was call and the dude at ace said with my exp. he said I could go stright to guideing the upper. :D

Anyway...LAter DaggerX
