I'm sorry, Folk, but I would much rather say I tried to save a man's life than to say I made it to the top.
What I love about running is you can meditate while running. It's a peaceful place.

money is the root of all evil.

If there wasn't a pricetag of hundreds of thousands attached to the summit more people would probably have helped.

There are plenty of people who would gladly kill for that kind of money, much less give it up to help someone out. all anybody did in this case was walk on by. I'm not saying it's right, just that the kind of motivation and commitment involved with coughing up that kind of cash isn't likely to kindle kindheartedness or helpfulness in people.

It's still a shame, shit, people had to pass by on the way down too. somebody's gonna have to haul the body down at some point, wouldn't it be easier if it had a pulse and could maybe help out a bit?

one more question for all the "helpful" people out there: Would you still be willing to help someone out knowing that it might cost you your life? I'm no mountaineer, but i've gotten the impression that a lot of people die up there even when they do things right, life itself is hanging on by a thread up there without any extra burdens. that energy you give up to help another might be what you need to survive yourself.

You know, when I saw the subject of this thread, I thought, "Man... that's a horrible political move..."

While I would love to say I would have stopped to help the guy, I'm not so sure. From the documentaries I've read, your mind is pretty much reduced to that of a 3 year old at that altitude. Those people are focused solely on left foot, right foot. They have very little ability to make complicated decisions.
Sarcasm is a tool the weak use to avoid confrontation. People with any balls just outright lie.
