sell out? sell out?

man whatever...I evolved and adapted, i didn't sell out. money wasn't only reason I took the job in NYC over bishop, there is the fact that I am helping the kids at UNICEF and getting to work at the UN, and i get a solid month off to go climbing every year.

and NYC is a little more interesting of a town than bishop...

i sort of climbed the eastern sierra out

the northeast has tons and tons of climbing I never have done.

and the short season makes the intensity higher. you want things you can't have. no valley syndrome gonna happen here.

Yeah so do the black flies and misquitoes. You'll want out soon enough

That just goes to prove my point: I am more hardcore than ever.

instead of taking the easy way out by living, working, and climbing in Bishop, I am going to be climbing during the freezing winters and horribly humid summers, in swarms of black flies and misquitoes, and have to fight my way out and back into the city everytime I go out. If that isn't hardcore I don't know what is....

i didn't sell out, i took it up the next level.

Yankee, wannabe hipster, sellout. Don't try to hide it.

It all started going wrong when you cut your dreads, didn't it?

man i was out there livin the dream, climbing full time and living in my car longer than almost anyone I know and probably anyone on this board. most people went on multiple roadtrips during the time i was on mine. i paid my dues.

shit i was dumpster diving in bishop two weeks ago, i haven't sold out i am just multifaceted.

why all the hate???

Hate? Nope, no hate. Sorrow, perhaps. See, Merrick, you were living the life that none of us could. You brought a little bit of the endless summer roadtrip vibe into the lives of the poor downtrodden 40 hour a week masses. So, merrick, it isn't about you at all. It is about all of us. Who are we going to look up to now????
