I think two is more realistic and I want to reach our goal within the timelines we set. I think during our fundraiser this year we can ask our donators if they will commit to a two year donation and that'll make the following year's effort easier.

i'd ask her what would happen if it were paid off now, would the interest be cut.. but i don't know if i want to push it.. and besides, i figure it probably would. assuming it did, i think that'd put us somewhere around $185,000 -> ($84505 x .4) + $227,500 - $76,893.. if we could shot for about $1,750 a week, that would put us at the finish in two years.shannon wrote:The original purchase price was $325 per acre, or $227,500 principal plus $84,505 interest over 10 years, for a total purchase price of $312,005. To date $76,893 has been paid. The remaining balance is $235,112, to be paid over the next eight years, until 2013.

This is all great guys! I don't do numbers. But I can contact legislators, people in the commerce cabinet, people in Dept. of Transportation, etc. So, while it would make my head hurt to look at all these numbers, just let me know what you need me to do/who you need me to contact. I can "grease the wheels" pretty dang well.

Hey all, the above reporter wrote an article in the Courier Journal today about poverty in Eastern Kentucky. I think we should add him to the list of press persons that we've already collected. A follow up for him could be about our property and Muir Valley. Land purchase for recreation = real tax dollars to the area. Which reminds me; I'm taking that economic study to work today. When I stop typing, I'll pull it from my files.
Have a great day!

I just had a great discussion with a top executive in my firm (Donny Fuller...FYI I work at Fuller, Mossbarger, Scott and MayEngineers. He's a bigwig, alright). He's an outdoor enthusiast and is full on interested in going to Lynn's with me and trying to get free printing. Thinks for sure it wouldn't be a problem. He's going to bring up a corporate donation from FMSM too at the next project management meeting. He also gave me some other ideas I want to throw out to you all...
Paintball is huge. He said that there's an organization http://www.rowanpaintball.com that is always looking for places to rent for painball. All they need is like 50 acres. Charlie...have you all ever thought about opening the area up to paintball? Apparently, there are a lot of people with money in this game and they are die hards. Donny thinks it wouldn't be a problem to get them to sponsor a chunk of land for their use. I'm not sure if the RRGCC wants to go there but it's just an idea...
Also, what about going off the idea of "sponsor a route" but have the option of sponsoring a wall! Would the RRGCC be in on this? I mean, how interested would Black Diamond be in sponsoring Solar Collector? They'd probably get good PR from it, ya think?
Donny is also psyched on approaching other firms in the area and raising money. I mean, he is definitely on board and told me "you came to the right place". He brought up another firm in New Jersey that wants to get their foot in the door towards having their name planted in Kentucky and said the owner is a huge outdoor enthusiast and that they are loaded. We don't have anything in hand right now but I feel good having him on our side. Lexington is a small town and FMSM is a very reputable firm.
The thing is, we need to figure out what we can offer big donors. Would the RRGCC be up for erecting a sign at a wall saying that the wall was sponsored? What about a partners page on the RRGCC website?
Tons to think about...

Not sure about the paintball, will have to discuss with Bob. Big cashcow in the future is gonna be the Mountain Bikers. We've been poking around and working to get some of the IBMA organizers to walk the land and see what they think.
We are definitely working on a business partner link thing (like on the SCC site). First priority after the break is for me to create a full on info page concerning the PMRP and adding a frame on the index page, just above the announcements that will take you there. Just a matter of when I get a chance to gather the info and create the page but like you have here, we're focusing our PR machine (i.e. me) on the big assett that is the PMRP.
Another thing I'm working on is getting public versions of our docs (budget, financial statements, strat items for '06) and posting them on a new info page. Everyone on the board is focused on being as open and informative as possible. It's pretty cool that 95% of our cash goes directly to the property. When we can limit operation costs to 5% of our cash then we should be bragging about it!

Local non-profit organizations that run fundraisers on Wal-mart or Sam's Club's property are eligible to be matched by them up to $1000! This is worth looking into... http://www.walmartfoundation.org/wmstor ... oid=-10284
I'm going to talk to someone I know who I think has a portable climbing wall. If I can get him to donate this for a day, that maybe good. Or maybe we could do something else?
