which is more important to you?
If we eliminated heavy truck traffic from the highways they would hardly ever need to be resurfaced thereby saving precious oil in the asphalt... oh, wait, Big Oil wouldn't make as obscene of profits that way. Never mind.

oh that's fine.. we have computers and phones and, most importantly, money so it's ok. we can pay for everything else. it'll just be everyone else that'll be screwed.. but hey, that's their problem.ynot wrote:If we eliminated heavy truck traffic, every store shelf would be empty and you would do without everything.

so, it looks like the consensus here is that , given two choices, folks would prefer to drill ANWR and make stricter fuel standards. yo liberals, where are your convictions for ANWR? don't let some punk ass poll deter you....refuse to participate....liberate the caribou...stay strong brother....peace to the masses....

Positive vibes brah...positive vibes.
Not true. Trains are more efficient, just slightly slower. It wouldn't take much to make cross-country trucking more expensive than trains and it also wouldn't take much to make trains as fast (for the most part) as trucks. There are still huge urban areas built around train tracks that could easily support the shifts that would require. Anyway, trains are cool.ynot wrote:If we eliminated heavy truck traffic, every store shelf would be empty and you would do without everything.

Ah, but not such big trucks and not going such long distances. It's only a matter of time til most big stores have a rail siding out back again, just like in the good old days.
