My sterling marathon 10.4 went flat quickly. I think the core was defective. my current rope is a bluewater 10.2 eliminator dry that I havn't used yet.

I bought two of those last fall and so far, I really dig it. I had bought a Roca last spring and after two months retired it to my gym rope (weak sheath).

my favorite rope is the one that we pulled out of retirement last year when our "new" rope started to look sketchy... this rope goes well with my favorite draws, you know, the rack where no two single draws are the same and we've still got ovals on some of them... you know you've been hanging out w/ the crusty crowd too long when spragwa says "di, that's ok, i'll use my draws on this one..." and then, after a minute of thought, and let's go ahead and use my rope too! and when ashtray pokes fun at your gear.

Monster rope by Metolius is by far the most durable 9.8 that I've found.
Oh man, he is messing that up. However, he is missing his left leg so that way would probably be harder for him. SCIN, just before spraying some beta for a climber doing a route the WRONG way.

Got a new cord for the season and so far it is great. Sterling Biathlon 10.1mm x 60m. Leads like a 9.8, ties like a 10.5 and doesn't kill your hands on a long belay like some of the skinny ropes. Plus bi-color is just cool. Kinda pricy.

I seen a few mention about cutting a rope. Could someone exlain to me this core shot? I take it it is something that happens to towards one end or the other if you can cut a rope a few times a year and still have 60m left.

Thanks

Hangdoging and taking short falls wears heavily on the first 10 feet or so of a rope so it gets cut off. A core shot is when the sheath shows the core.

I love my Sterling 10.2. Nice & soft, feeds great.

My favorite rope is the one that is now in my closet that gets pulled out and useded as a dog leash once in a while. I took my first whip on that rope.
