Other than very cold beer here's a drink I love when it's hot:
Pimm's cup
Ingredients:
1 shot Pimm's No. 1
Fill with 7-Up
1 slice Cucumber
Twist of Lemon peel
Mixing instructions:
In a highball glass add Pimm's No. 1 and twist of lemon. Fill with 7-up. Garnish with cucumber slice.
You can also use Pernod instead of Pimm's No. 1 if you can find it.
Another great one is the Dark and Stormy which is dark rum and ginger ale in a tall glass.

Bleh, tonic is just nasty to me. Have you got soda? No? Ok, can I just get my gin on the rocks with a twist of lime? Thanks.
Actually can I just get a double martini, dirty, up, and mercilessly dry?
Cheers!

I was out climbing in the heat on the backyard wall this evening - I've got a real, on the rocks (lots of crushed ice), fresh lime juice margarita. ahhhhhhhhh.

Whatever brand of root beer Miguel's is carrying now, you know, the little microbrewed stuff. Awesome, wish I could find it in Columbus.

While on the non-alcoholic tip:
Fill a glass 2/3 with crushed ice
Squeeze the juice of a couple of limes or lemons or an orange or a combination into the glass
Add a couple ounces of simple syrup to taste (to make simple syrup bring water to a boil and stir in an equal amount of sugar (i.e. a cup of water and a cup of sugar) until it dissolves then let cool)
Top with soda water
Stir
Drink through straw.
Make another one.
Try adding vodka, rum, gin, bourbon, brandy, cognac, or other liquor to it if you need some kick.
