I wonder if Prudence has a chastity belt under that habit? Merrick, how are you at breaking and entering?

I somehow missed this thread, musta been the whole Christmas thing.
Cell phones used to seem like a high tech toy for people who had too much money for their own good. Then they got a little smaller and more portable. When I started at the station five years ago they gave me a phone and a pager on my first day. I hated them both. Mainly because they would bug me in the middle of a story, but also because I felt like one of those pretentious people I used to make fun of. Now the pager is gone, the phone smaller and I can't imagine doing news with the little bugger. I get mad when in rural parts and can't get service. I've watched judeges scold reporters and threaten to hold them in contempt because they didn't head my advise and turn the phone off. Jill gave up her land line phone years ago. Fourteen year old kids were on the phone at every high school game I shot this fall. I yell at people who talk while driving, only to pickup the phone and call someone the next minute. The cell phone coverage has gotten better at certain crags in the Gorege over the past few years. I heard someones ringing today at Fortress. Love 'em or hate 'em their darn handy.

Gretchen, I have a Sprint phone for work but it was always roaming not far east of Lexington and I got nailed for having too high of a bill. I recently got a Verizon phone which has great coverage at the Red. I got a pricey plan, though, it's their National Single Rate plan or something like that - you are never roaming wherever you can get a signal and long distance is included. I think it's about 100 minutes anytime for $35, and then I added 1000 night/weekend minutes for $10.. something like that. I got it specifically for trips to the Red and it works great. The phone itself kind of sucks but it was free after a rebate.
