kneebar, don't worry... if we had no hummers, they'd bitch about grand Cherokees..none of those, then it'd be full sized vans..none of those, it'd be full size pickups, none of those, it'd be anything diesel, etc...some people just like to bitch...and "admiring" a dirt bag for driving a POS micro is as stupid as "admiring" an h2 driver...sorry to hurt some feelings, but I am guessing it takes a wee bit of fossil fuels to create our synthetic ropes and slings..our rubber shoes, and god forbid, our metal gear...but hey, let's don't look inward at our consumption when we can throw our wrath at the "evil" of everyone else.

As in everything else in life, we focus on all the bad things. I had a friend once say that a person could have ten good things happen to them in a day and just one bad thing. The bad thing would be the only thing brought up at the dinner table.

I figure my wife and I have made the ultimate environmental decision: no kids!

Can anyone actually come up with a real reason to have a Hummer? You know, like, "Most Hummer owners carry ten people over rough roads every time they start it?"

Can you think of a *real* reason to own any kind of car that isn't 100% PC? You people just need to get over your self-rightiousness. So some guy drives a hummer? Big fucking deal. Like that is all that much worse then a normal SUV or full sized van. Hell, I probably burn as much or more gas then the ave. hummer driver in a week. Why aren't you pissed at my mini van driving ass?

Dumbasses.

I disagree Wes. First, your van serves a purpose. It's far from a status symbol. Hell, you bought it to travel. It's supposed to be your shell. I cannot imagine a single consumer who purchased a hummer for its intended purpose. It's all about status and looking kewl. Second, if you could afford a second, more fuel efficient vehicle don't you think that you would drive it? TO have one great crag/road tripping car and another fuel efficient car to tool around in, that'd be the dream. But it's also expensive.

Hell, I gave up my four cylinder cute lil toyota that got 34 miles to the gallon for a car that gets 28 miles to the gallon b/c it's more comfy. I still regret it at times but that's what I did.

His hummer serves a purpose as well - he/she likes to drive it. I like to travel. Why is my purpose any better? Maybe I just travel to look cool? And pick up chicks. Same thing as the hummer...

I guess what I am saying is that the net effect of driving a hummer around town a few days a week isn't alwasy any worse then the driving we do to the crag. And, in the *big picture*, this planet is going down, with or without any hummers. And if the hummers speeds that process up a bit, in geologic time, it will be the smallest blink of an eye.
