You've got to be careful of those campus squirrels, they're vicious. I wonder if thier ferocity has any relationship with the number of them you see on campus that don't have tails anymore. Hmmm.
As for the route, I'd say leave it be and check it again next summer to see if they're still there or if they've moved on. I don't know if they'll use the same nest year after year or not.

However bad those campus squirrels are, I'll bet they don't compare with Camp 4 squirrels! One time I was sacked out on a bear box, laying back with my legs dangling down to the ground. A squirrel ran up my leg, I jolted up and it jumped off. Yeh! Chicago squirrels aren't that crazy.

Asbury has squirells, they have WWJD tatooed on them, even though good weslyans are not supposed to have tatoos. they drink coffee too. They also refer to nuts as "seed fruit" and dance in circles. they make me want to sing khum-ba-yah.

we weren't allowed to dance....
we weren't allowed to drink...
we weren't allowed to go to the opposite sexes house without written permission from both sets of parents...
we weren't allowed to have cars as freshmen...
forget tattoos...forget guys hair past your shoulders...forget weird piercings...
we had to be in at 11pm otherwise we got locked out and if we carded in then we got fined
tiny bubbles...
but you shoulda seen the squirrels doin' all those things!!!!

j-rock,
i say leave the route alone for a while and see what happens. it is nearing winter and the squirrels may be looking for a warmer home soon.
I dunno...I'm such a hypocrate on this topic cause I'll kill spiders, wasps and other little creepy crawlys on routes, but if it has feathers or fur, I usually steer clear.
