And yeah, I can't stand slings. The only time I used one was on a long multi-pitch.

I hate slings, too, but really do love OW climbing. I'm fairly certain it's a sickness, but I'll opt for wide and dirty over all those overhanging jug hauls anyday!

Thanks for the advice, folks. In my defense, I asked which "side" to put in a knee size splitter dammit, not which wall to put my back against (which, to me, has so far always been obvious when I am going to be placing my back against a wall). The advice 512OW gave regarding which way a splitter crack leans is superb! And I've never thought to switch sides once I commit, but perhaps I'll try that sometime when I feel I'm wrong side in.

Yasi, when are we going to Muscle Beach?? :mrgreen:
