You might be right Jeff and I hesitated to even act like I'm encouraging that, but if folks feel the need to call the law than I wanted to point them to the right agency.
I see they are still lopping off mountains in Eastern Kentucky. Electricity isn't cheap.

I do believe that the guy shooting was target practicing. The reason I say that is because for the first 30 minutes, the shots were going away from the open valley below. Then the shots seemed to go in random directions. The shots did stop for a few seconds after jrvela and his crew started yelling, but resumed after a few seconds. The shots afterward did not go tward the valley.
I agree that yelling for a sustained amount of time is the best way to let them know where you are. Believe me, if they want to scare people off, there are worse ways. Frankly, I stick to my ale-8 and moonpie theory.

jrvela story is correct, I was there. We busted ass out of there and went to the ten wall at the inbetween. The gun shots did not follow us and we finished a great day of climbing. It did scare the piss out of me and my group

I think it'd be cool to get shot right after sitcking the crux of some gnarly route -- specially if I were real run out!

Surely the gunsmen had a car somewhere, why didn't you slash the tires?
Not a bitch.
