Because I am very much "Mechenically Challanged". If I had the cash to buy a newer one, then I might think about it. Dr. Bob's synco is super nice.

A climber making sacrifices for his climbing ... very sexy.

spuzo wrote:I'm a big fan of the old toyota vans... (or is that the Siena?) with the sloped down nose...my family had one in the 80s...it lasted the whole decade plus some...and it was used when we got it, man that thing was awesome. I would love to have it back. It was that great Toyota dirt/ mud color too...it was the one where they put the engine between the front seats....
Spuz I think the first toyota van in US was just called a Toyota Van. We bought one in 84 and drove it everywhere. It had a 4 cyl Corolla engine that ran forever. I wish I'd never sold it. Perfect for mountain bikes , camping, passing out in the municipal parking gargage when your hangover prevents you from going to work.
then toyota made the Previa and then the Sienna.
I also wish I had never sold my 71 VW squareback...
Did I mention my 4Runner needs a new engine?

Lateralus wrote:If it was an 80's toyota van they haven't built it for 2 generations
the van you're talking about i think --> Previa (my favorite) --> Sienna.
The Sienna is super expensive and a lot less room than the previous toyota vans,
the seats no longer are easy to remove-- I probably won't get the Sienna, my previa is still running pretty good 91'
I was posting my history of Toyota vans a little sloweer than Lateralus...sorry.

With breakins and stuff I was thinking about putting some kind of locked chest or giant drawer in the 4Runner for climbing gear...I saw Dean the super climber did that in his truck in some climbing mag.
Any one know how to do something like that?
This clearly has nothing to do with your trip Wes.

loren wrote:mini vans are way sexy Wes, kind of like long beards. Chicks dig them both! anyway, I recomend a Toyata Siena. It looks cool AND it has a cool name.
Particularly cool/sexy if you had a 'girl next door' growing up who was named Sienna! On the plus side, she got cuter and cuter as she got older, on the down side she has some of those 'kid' and 'husband' thingies...

But back to the whole Wyoming thing - looking forward to it, but the fact that the other guy I was planning the trip with just got married and is incommunicado, planning specifics is tough right now.

yeah we just had the "Toyota Van" sigh...it was great. The maroon inside carpeting became very discolored with Georgia sun and red clay...but that thing went EVERYWHERE and towed EVERYTHING. Our family switched from like this big A-Team van with curtains on the windows... (not a winnie, just a big van with curtains and a table in it...) to the tan van yota....

Aren't vehicle memories great....

This trip has ended way earlier then I thought. Blew up my transmission in Colby, KS. Just have to figure out a way to get me and my stuff home now.
