no one needs to be hiding out with projectile weapons escalating things. Maybe we should try to organize some sort of visible presence in the lots
I couldn't agree with this more. Leaving your windows down and you car empty of valuables is a great idea too - it kept my car from being broken into a few weeks ago a the Motherlode. Also, I think it would be effective to leave visible, handwritten signs in our car windows stating that there have been breakins in the area. This lets other unsuspecting climbers know what's going on. And its also a way to to let the thieves know, "Hey we know you're out there, and your not going to find much in our cars."

Hey all-- I just talked to Andrew's Sis, and she said there were 3 break-ins at Roadside yesterday. Just thought I'd let everyone know, since tomorrow's looking like Roadside day for a lot of people.

Where Kieth?
I parked there Wednesday and noticed a bit of broken glass, so there may have been others recently as well.

If anyone sees anyone shady around the parking lot this weekend, make it a point to say, very loudly, "Man, I'm really glad Keith is back in town!"

You guys really suggest leaving the doors unlocked & windows down? I've had a car flat out stolen before...doesn't that worry anyone doing this?
*sigh*

There's a shady character driving a yellow Westy around the Red listening to music that he must have pulled from a vault. I think he's the culprit.

I don't want the windows broken if they are up, but I'm not so hot on leaving them down and the doors unlocked either. Its a hassle to get a broken window fixed and since your insurance covers all glass w/o a deductible you end up having that little nugget on your insurance report and possible slightly higher rates at your next renewal. So, I guess I'm making the obvious point that break-ins just generally suck.

We go thru this once or twice a year. Everyone says we should do this, that, or whatever. But alas, we never do anything. It should be a simple enough rest day activity to do a proper stake out. We should formulate a plan. Not on this forum. The bad guys could be watching. I propose a meeting. You know, face to face. Say, at a popular local climbing hangout. We can make this happen, Warren willing!
