Portabella is good for Italian. Does anyone go to Joe Balogna's anymore? Does anyone remember the old one on Southland? The ambiance was wonderful............

Malones is good for sure. Furlongs is a favorite of mine. There are a ton of nice restaurants in Lexington, so I am sure you will be able to find a job pretty easy.

Jill took me to this place tonight and I enjoyed every bite. Its an El Salvadorian restaurant that has yummy pupusas. Check it out if you get the chance.

I think that the problem with chains is that local chefs who try to be creative ad use local ingredients are being put out of business by these chains that serve a relatively generic menu with no consideration for a great many things. You aren't going to see the manager at Applebees at the farmers market supporting anything local. If you think Lexington is lame in terms of restaurants it may be the large number of chain restaurants and their loyal following. For lunch you can't beat Stella's deli, locally owned serving local meat and produce

But I do agree there is a real lack of quality diner spots that costs big bucks. I eat Oasis at least once a week, but it is close. to be honest I am a huge fan of the pizza and beer idea but I'm sure my mom isn't
