When you spend time doing something only to realise later that it got you no where.

I'm sitting here trying to figure this thing out but without dates, the words Wednesday and Tuesday mean nothing to me.

andy_lemon wrote: Cool story Mike. Isn't it illegal for people from Ohio to take a handgun across state lines?
No, it is not illegal for people to take a handgun across state lines.

Here's the law:
Interstate transportation of Firearms United States Code, TITLE 18, section 926A

Interstate transportation of firearms - Notwithstanding any other provision of any law or any rule or regulation of a State or any political subdivision thereof, any person who is not otherwise prohibited by this chapter from transporting, shipping, or receiving a firearm shall be entitled to transport a firearm for any lawful purpose from any place where he may lawfully possess and carry such firearm to any other place where he may lawfully possess and carry such firearm if, during such transportation the firearm is unloaded, and neither the firearm nor any ammunition being transported is readily accessible or is directly accessible from the passenger compartment of such transporting vehicle: Provided, That in the case of a vehicle without a compartment separate from the driver's compartment the firearm or ammunition shall be contained in a locked container other than the glove compartment or console.

In addition:
You may carry a weapon within the national forest as long as it is not concealed.

I could give you a few reasons why that website sucks. To KYTs credit the Associated Press didn't have much more than this on the wire...thats probabbly where they got the info to put on their website.

While I don't know any more about this whole body found thing than anybody else who has posted let me pose a theory or two. How did the gentleman die?! Was he shot? If so was it self inflicted? That might not be obvious until an autopsy is done. Maybe he died of a heartattack. He was the right age for something like that. Could've been out walking around in the woods huntin' snipe, ginsing, or looking for a place to plant his crop and BAM! Stricken by a heartattack. And if he was murdered maybe the body was dumped out there. So until you hear a cause of death, or where the death occured, is there really any reason to worry?

Williamsburg is in Whitley County. End of I-75.

Steve, the man in the first post is the same man in Spuzo's post on page two. Beaten to death with firewood. Was that the question?

Dipsi, one guy was found in Lee County and the other was found in a different county. I don't think they are related.

Steve, while your assumption might be correct, I think it is pretty lame of that news site to pull something from the wire when they can drive a few miles and investigate for themselves. Suck factor times 2. They must be dropping readers like BULLETS... speaking of which,

Mike, thanks for the post. I was told a long time ago when I signed up for my personal protection permit that I was not allowed to carry my handgun across state lines, into a school, into a bank, or into any government building (what I found interesting is that you can't carry a gun into a post office). Given the poor credability of police officiers from Indiana speaking on gun laws, I will definately look into the law you posted.

The initial link is the same man as in Spuzo's post on page 2 like dipsi mentioned. Spuzo it may be of help to look at a KY state map to have an idea of just how big an area the DBNF covers. the sky is not falling
