Over the years, I have acquired more than 1/2 a dozen pairs of climbing shoes - different "make & model". My Evolv shoes are just about the only shoes I will wear now: It's the way they fit me - I love that secure feeling. Their edging exceeded all my other shoes.

Yeah, I'll wear my other pairs of shoes... when I am farting around.

yeah, and he farts a lot... oops, did I say that out loud?!

Actually, Lynn Hill was sponsored, but she went out and marketed herself to companies in order to raise money for climbing trips she wanted to go on. Lots of climbers I've read about will do that. As far as climbers like Tori being sponsored, I get the impression that's a different "type" of sponsorship.

And I like the Evolv shoes. Their company has some of the most impressive benefits that go along with buying a pair of their shoes, too. Not just great shoes that they will make to fit your specific foot, but a free resole among others. If you haven't taken a good look at them, I highly recommend it.

happy climbing!

Sponsors... that's a discussion of its own. I think that climbers fall into two categories: The quiet sponsored climbers (they are really good, great even...) and then the loud sponsored climbers (they need to be "loud", make their presence known, try to be funny, clown-around a lot, but are not always the "best").

Personally, I was never quiet. I was sponsored by Local Motion and Gastra (for windsurfing) when I was a kid, but not because I was better than any other kid on the block. I had to go and get the sponsors, convince them, and yes, it is a lot of work. Boy, I which I was known as the "quiet sponsored" but I was more like the clown. Some things just do not change.

To all sponsored climbers - to the great and the clowns - I raise my hat to you because no matter how you look at it, it's a lot of work - and yes, a lot of fun.

lol....yes, and I am pissed..I can't even get in with the chump companies....

I started this thread asking about sponsorship in general, but it appears no one actually knows anyone who is sponsored. Lots of whispers and talk about it, but no hard facts.

Just wanted to see if we all like to gossip about it, instead of really knowing the truth behind any specific deal someone is getting.

Will you sponsor me Mia? I'll tattoo anything on my pighide you want...
