I have Speakeasy - it isn't the cheapest, but:

- Good customer service
- They seem to push extra static IPs on me
- When I asked about putting a server on my plain-old, basic residential service package, they basically said, "Sure, we offer 'server' service, but it's just a bit faster. As for your residential service, we don't care what you do - web, mail, whatever - max out the upload, max out the download, we don't care." Which is pleasantly abnormal for DSL providers.

Sounds like the problem is ... you're using Windows.

Sorry - all operating systems have their problems and limitations, but for the most part, Windows is the suckiest of them all - especially Windows 98/ME.

Thanks Tom... I got tired of not being able to surf the web and still paying for it, so I downloaded the newest version of Netscape. I am surfing like a bad mamba jamba now!

It would appear we've been hit with a wacky Sunday again. :) "Wes humping" is definitely not a phrase I use regularly.

I hear you guys about Windows 98. I've got a professional sound card that isn't supported by OS above 98SE so I'm kind of stuck with it. I have to reformat at least twice a year and I feel one coming on right now as my Primary IDE Controller has vanished. Luckily my system is SCSI based (I say lucky with much sarcasm) so the absence of this driver is affecting my cd-r drives and my USB removable drive but not my recording set-up. Still, it's a pain to have to restart every time I want to access the USB drive.

Does anyone know anything about these $100 "Lindows" computers they sell at Walmart? Can they be networked with other computers?
