I've got a friend that was still using his Beta based digital audio recorder up into the mid 90's. Beta fanatics didn't give up without a fight. But why in the world would such a short lived and unpopular (though superior, blah blah blah) format become the climber slang for information about the next possible moves and those following those possible moves... Were the original climbers all Sony devotees?
