That's too funny. He must have not tried any of the trad routes. That's great if he doesn’t love the allure of the Red's jug hauls. I just love that shit. Oh, you can't compare the Red to any other area in the US. There is nothing like it. I'm all for equal opportunity and think everyone should be able to enjoy climbing but he will be one less person to deal with. Granted it's apples to oranges but I think Yosemite's trad is soft compared to the Red's trad.

It all has to do with climbing style and rock type. If you don't like climbing on sandstone, chances are you're not going to like climbing in the Red. Does that mean that the climbing there sucks?

Stronghandman must be going through life with blinders on which will lead to a shallow existance. He came to climb, climbed, didn't like it, and left. If he doesn't come back, it's his loss. The Red has so much to offer if you choose to extend outside your own self imposed guideline of what is good climbing. Unfortunately, he feels it's his calling to spew to everyone about his feelings.

Good luck to you Stronghandman and I hope you find what you consider to be the perfect climbing area. If you do, do everyone a favor and keep it to yourself. Most people don't care to spend time with a pompous ass.

I think its funny as hell that you all assume I got on the softest climbs of the grades. Sounds like all you pretend strongmen have some confidence issues and have to lash out on others when they send your shit without a hitch just to make you feel better about your weakass. “I find it amusing that you come on here and post about all of the posers at Miguel’s “ They need bashed on. Dear Crankyass,
If you have traveled any at all in the SE you have probably climbed on at least one of my lines. So I bring my drill and put up another Red “classic”. Waste my money, time , and gear just for the rock to crumble and to hear all of you whine about how my routes are sandbagged. I would rather just come into town once a year or so and steal your precious red tagged warm-ups and laugh at the thought of having to call this place home.

Funny how people take offense to others disliking the climbing at the Red... that's what keeps it from getting more overcrowded than it's already getting. If you love it (which I do), love it for you and not for others.

I couldn't agree more. those poor suckers who take offense to strongman's opinion must be climbing for the wrong reasons. if you like the red, then why do you care what he thinks? for such an open minded bunch of individuals, I love it when we tell someone to spray elsewhere, never come back, and resort to name calling.

if strongman thinks the Red is a tourist trap or a pile of choss, he may be right. or he may be dead wrong...either way, why do you care?

for example, when you onsight a 12a, and it subsequently gets down graded, does it sting a bit..come on, just a bit?..of course..there is so much more ego wrapped up in this game than anyone has the balls to admit....

rhunt, did you hear that?..ro is an 11d, harvest is 12d, and all those routes at jackson were 11d... you'll never make the grade people if you worry about your neighbor. as I have always said, climbing is the most selfish pursuit most of us will ever do, and it should be that way...

Pig you seem to be one of the few climbers around here that actually has some sense. I agree with you. Grades and quality are relative to what you know and what you are used to. You all cant help what you have gotten used to, and I do feel for you. So I understand and accept the bashing, its rather amusing that you all care so much about what I think of the Red.
