I say if you want to run around naked, go for it. If someone doesn't like it, they can turn their head and not look. Shouldn't they be watching the climber anyway?!

Gee...everyone takes the polls so seriously. I didn't really want any specific results. I just wanted to poke fun at people that whine about the hardships of nature while consciously choosing to be out of doors. I hate the bugs, the humidity, the steep approaches, the rhodo thrashing and all. BUt I don't let those things dissuade me from doing what I want to do or going where I want to go. And after so many years I kinda begin to enjoy all of it. Its the stuff that makes it hard that makes it worth it.

I don't really care if you love the wilderness experience or not. And its not about getting away from the crowds so much either. I've been with people that moaned about the steepness of the approach from the oil road to the InBetween Wall.

This is just another way for me to say: "If you're having trouble with the approach then maybe climbing isn't for you."

I do get into bushwacking my way to a crag, it gives me a greater sense of being in a wilderness environment. The best is when I'm able to top out on a climb and get a great view. I guess thats one of the best reasons to climb, ...for the view.

Isn't the approach, whether it's short, long, steep or flat, all a part of climbing? When I go climbing, I expect to have to "get to the crag". I climb the easiest part - the approach - getting to the route. Do I always enjoy it? no. Do I do it anyway? Absolutely!!

That's one way of looking at it I guess.

hmmm...almost 50% of respondents picked the option with "peace and quiet" attached. I see that as another vote for "no dogs" at the crags. If you think this doesn't apply to your mutt, think again. No ones pet is as good as the owner perceives.

you're right... my dogs are not as good as I perceive, they're better!

I'd much rather hear my dogs playing and having fun than someone "grunting & yelling" their way up a route. Now that is annoying!

Actually, yes it is.

In my experience, people that complain about the approach every time seem to complain about the climbing, the weather, the bugs, the company, etc., etc. Kinda ruins the mood huh?
