Artsay I would LOVE (hint, hint BBerlier) to move to Asheville, NC. It's a cool a$$ town, good eats & drinks, so close to sooo much rock, cycling, fishing, unlimited outdoor resources! The only downside that I see is that it is hot in the summer!
Just genuinely disengenuous.

I lived in Asheville for two years and it is very beautiful. The rock in NC is very slabby, though. The bouldering kicks ass but we really like splitter, steep cracks. Roofs, huecos, sandstone....shit, I'm describing the Red!

Chatanooga really isn't that bad of a gig you should seriously consider it.
1.) 4 hours from the Red
2 hours from the Obed
30 minutes from T-Wall
1 hour from Little River Canyon
1 hour from Rock Town
1 hour from Sand Rock
1 hour from Buzzard Point / Laurel Falls
1 hour from Foster Falls
1.5 hrs from HP40
and the list goes on!

Good climbing community...good climate...not bad traffic.... yes it is a little more industrial and "dirty" than Lexington but all in all not a bad town.....Maybe Knoxville as another option..never been there though. Tough decision but one worth making if you are really ready for a change.
Lest we all forget... climbing is a mostly meaningless pursuit that we do for fun.

Man that's a tough call then. Tenn. is beautiful! I just don't know the towns well enough to give a good suggestion. Bottom line, we don't want to see you guys go!

Wait Wait Wait..still no mention of the New! What the hell, I mean I know you people from Lexington are extremely spoiled having the Red in your back yard, but shit the New is only 4 hours away. It won't kill you to drive, camp and have a real climbing weekend. And from what the traddies here in Columbus tell me, the New is way better for crack climbing than the Red!

The New ROCKS! That was my home crag for the year I lived in Cary, NC. Sweet place, but where does one live around them parts? Fayetteville is scarcely located on a map! Isn't WV the highest poverty state?

Hmmm, steep sandstone cracks.... It may be the tainted smack I've been getting lately, but you might consider Las Vegas. (shock! horror!)
