How cold is too cold for you guys?

To me it depends on a lot of variables like humidity, sun exposure, wind, temp, elevation, rock temp (will the rock warm in sun on cold day? some do a lot) and dew point. If the the humidity is low, sun is out, wind is down below 5mph and elevation is high you can be in a t-shirt at 30 degrees and enjoy it. You can go very cold on these days. But get the humidity up to saturation point on a warm day followed by a day of cold where the humitidy will be maxed out for that temp plus dew dropping out, no sun, low elevation plus wind. Take a day like that down cold and it is horrible in comparison.

i avoid cold super-saturated days as you spend the bulk of your energy just trying to stay warm. assuming mild humidity, i've found 25 degrees in the sun is nice while 45 in the shade is tolerable.

I'd say it really depends on how well your hands function in the cold since everyone is different, I've worked outside this nasty winter and noticed that without gloves I couldn't move my fingers while noticing some of my co-workers not having that problem and warming your hands up is a very short fix. I boulder in the shade on 50f days with no problem, say that 40+ in the sun would be nice and another plus is that you don't have to worry about sweaty hands.
