What would you do differently, ynp1? If you needed work done on your house, would you post a map online and ask everyone to come try their hand, or would you contact people whose work you know and trust?
I'm not sure that really applies to this situation. If you asked people on the internet to donate money money to your home improvement fund with the goal of opening your home up to them, I think it is reasonable they would expect the process to be a little more open. Also, crags without trails or developed routes aren't likely to attract big crowds and the people that would be willing to go there are most likely the kind of people interested in helping build trails or develop routes.
edit to avoid sounding negative: Either way, miller fork sounds cool and I think the RRGCC does great work

If you're really dying to go bushwhack and climb dirty routes, then go down there! There's even a map published online for fuck's sake. So much hand-holding and butt-wiping in climbing these days, lame.

i'm not sure how curious individuals, taking the initiative, would impact relations by driving up and down Shumaker Ridge Rd and off all the other possible turnoffs, bush wacking around possibly private property, exploring the various other approaches, also possibly private.
it might be nice if there was an access fund or rrgcc contact that visiting developers (or nascent) could reach to get the lay of the land?

What Jordan said. Josie said it is closed to climbing... Is this true. Is she an official of the cc? She post like she might be.
Yas, I would do what you are doing, but be more open with developers, and invite outside developers. I understand if you find a crag and want to keep it a secret, if it is somewhere on like dbnf, but once the cc buys it and asks for donations, I think the information should be more transparent. If you need any more advice, just ask. But, this one was kind easy to see a solution...
Also, like cliff, stated, I would hate to go out there, with little knowledge, and start developing a cliff, that I thought was part of the property, and find out it is not and piss off the neighbors.
Sorry, my first post was a bit over the top, so I will take the harassment from that as kind of deserved.
Dustin, thanks for all your help. I hope your are not the spokesmen of the cc...
I will end with the same question, is it closed to climbing?

Here is a map:

What more do you need? A handwritten invite? Soon enough there will be Sunday bus tours for those without the ability to look at a map or do a little exploring on their own. Did you know the RRGCC board is made up of 5 or 6 volunteers, all of whom have full-time real jobs? Your lack of initiative is comical.

Also worth noting that if you had shown up for trail day you would probably be a lot less clueless about everything. Or at least just asked someone before laying down the lame internet bitching.

maybe taking the concerns and discretion of the land manager and others involved in the acquisition is lame, but it is also a sign of respect to grant the benefit of the doubt and try to adhere to a systematic approach, esp. for parking and approach trails.

Dustin you are right, and I would personally like to invite you to come climbing with me some weekend so you can see my laziness first hand, but I don't think we will be climbing in the red. I think I will be out of town climbing the next two weekend, but maybe a weekend in September?
You will have to redefine your definition of lazy after a day with me.
PM me if you are interested...
Also, a little more help to you Yas. This would be a great statement that the CC could put out, "the Miller Fork is open to climbing, but we will not be posting the climbing information online until the trails are built and more routes have been developed. All climbers are more then welcome to come and help with trails, develop routes, or help clean up exciting routes. Thanks for all you have donated, and we are excited about our new land!"
This statement, shows appreciation to the donors, but it will still keep 99% of the climbers that go to the red from climbing there. Wow, that only took a few minutes too come up with. How long did it take Josie to come up with, "climbing is closed until trails are built and climbers are developed". Not hating on her, she does great things for the red, but may need to watch what she post, especially when she is closing a climbing area.
Look forward to the PM Dustin. Can't wait to meet you...
