Pigsteak said "in no way does Trad hold a superior position". The bottom line. Well said.

this is cute.
now we just need a time and a place for the old school 'fisticuffs' and this will move straight to adorable.
fortunately for the sport weenies i hear trad climbers can't fight.

Wonder what Ondra and Sharma would say.
Re: Who's line is it?
Trad climbers kick ass! Sport weenies run home crying to mamma. In case you don't know it, Sharma doesn't just do sport, he's a damned fine trad climber as well.

Re: Who's line is it?
I always thought Trad and Sport have differant dynamics that attract differant people. Sport climbers enjoy pushing the difficult routes and climbing the hardest "project" and enjoy the physical and mental challenge of climbing the hardest route they can achieve. Trad climbers enjoy the "adventure" and the multi pitch stuff. They enjoy the view at the top more than the crux. I think both types of climbing are respectable and I am happy we can do them both at the red.

"Sport climbers.......,enjoy the physical and mental challenge of climbing the hardest route they can achieve". Trad climbers enjoy this aspect of climbing just as much as the sporties, along with the adventure. Everybody enjoys a good view, even pussy sport climbers.
Re: Who's line is it?
Disagree Mark. Most experienced climbers do both, it gets pretty dull after several years if you only pursue one style of climbing. Only in the Red do you find this moronic and artificial distinction. Our two best "local" climbers, Adam and Andrew, climb both. As do elite level climbers like Enzo Oddo, Jonathan Siegrist, Tommy Caldwell, Adam Ondra, Beth Rodden, Mayan Smith-Gobat, the list goes on and on. Climbing one or the other only is boring and self-limiting. And there are plenty of burly-ass trad climbs in the Red where the "view" (in the Red?? haha) is secondary at best... I am still sore as hell from following Andrew up our new 12+ at Bob Marley. Goddamn hard stemming hurts the hips and legs!

I will agree that sport climbers are pussies compared to trad climbers. But sport climbers are still better climbers. On another note, can't wait to watch Obama get slaughtered tonight..lol

Re: Who's line is it?
I agree with you completely, I was just trying to point out some common themes. At least what I have noticed. I respect, enjoy, and participate in both types of climbing. I just know I wont climb near as hard on trad, so naturally I come to my conclusions.dustonian wrote:Disagree Mark. tell that to caldwell, siegrist, gearing, and enzo. your distinction is meaningless at the top level.milspecmark wrote:I will agree that sport climbers are pussies compared to trad climbers. But sport climbers are still better climbers.
