the original posts were removed... they seemed a bit accusitory, maybe inspired by some bad blood or something...but no on ever clarified before they were removed.

who knows if there actually were plans for a new gym in cbus... doesn't seem like it would be a profitable venture. In order to out-do VA (which, i agree.. is on the lower end of the spectrum) they would have to build a pretty badass facility. it would cost a million bucks to get the walls tall enough. why invest that much just to compete with VA, the OSU climbing wall, and the new (free) wall at the park?

Cleveland, on the other hand, could use a good facility from what I hear.

McMike, I notice this is your first post on the board. Giving you the benefit of the doubt that you are just not another iteration of the person that made the OP. So anyways... I climb at VA a couple days a week. (I am most likely the guy doing laps on the auto-belay). Agreed, not the best gym in the world but they are working on improving it. The fully automated treadwall is nice too. Sorry to hear you put no value in loyalty. Loyalty is based upon consistently providing quality service. Even a great gym with shitty owners is still a shitty gym.

Regarding the OP... It was removed by the guy that made the OP as probably belatedly realized that he was not going to get much support from this board and actually take some heat (big surprise). It was basically a post of a brainstorming session of everything that you might put into a 30,000 sf climbing gym from business meeting facility, community out-reach, competition, work out gym, etc. It was also soliciting for people contribute ideas and sounded like it was fishing for investors. Total pipe dream based upon the quality of the post.

Also stated that it was going to be called Kinetic but under new ownership. (I assume you who know it used to be owned and run by if you live(d) in Cbus area.) Anyways, I have been climbing in Ohio since 1998 and have still yet to meet a person with something good to say about the guy. So, if it does get built I a can almost guarantee it is doomed to fail and if you switched gyms you will be back at VA paying your $100 membership fee again.

$100? Is that for a year?

$100 one time membership fee... then $30 something a month on top of it. Only pay $100 once and only have to re-pay if you stop your membership. It is a new thing... to try to stop people climbing at the outside gym in nice weather and fore-going the indoor gym fees. Tough competitor... one that is free and outside.

I know this thread isn't really about checking knots or belayers BUT...... i recently found out that the knot i climb with isn't really a knot. Countless people i've climbed with have looked at my knot funny but never said jack.
Thanks alot to you countless people for not caring if i was gonna die or not.
Incidently... I'm still using my knot which i now call an Italian Monkey's Fist.
