Honestly, why do you care? Seems that this bothers you? Maybe you can make some trendy lingo that would differentiate the two: 3 RA's (Route Attempts), and 22 CA's (Climbing Attempts).

Almost every route I have done first try, because if I didn't send... then I surely wasn't trying.

Not that it matters, but I watched a professional female climber fall at the chains of B.O.H.I.C.A. after trying twice to clip and dropping the rope. On her 8a, she wrote "took the victory whip ;)".

To each their own, I suppose...
