i think treadwalls are more gimicky than they are useful.

they're too small. one upward 'lunge', as a climber usually does at the red, spans the entire treadwall and then some. it's only practical if you do 'micro' moves. i'm not tall, but i could only see really using a treadwall if they had an extra 4 feet or so on them.

I went from 11d to 12c in just over a year and I owe most of it to a treadwall.

[edit] Well actually about a year and a half, but still.

no you don't...you owe it to training in general....and climbing soft routes at the Red.

Well, now that is true.

It could have been the Pilates, or the running, or the bouldering, or the hangboard, or good vibes from good partners.

But... I can guarantee you this. Any time I've pushed on through the last 20 feet on a route even though I was totally gassed. It's a result of hours of paddling on the treadwall. I disagree with comment about "one upward lunge". If the holds are placed on it correctly, slow the thing down, and I climb it exactly like I climb in the Red.

Now, mine is modified to be steeper, but I still saw a huge benefit before that.

climb it like you climb in the Red? you mean repetitive boring routes of the same jugs over and over? yawn, sounds like a needle in the eye....

Pig, quit picking a fight. You already started a war with everyone downgrading everyone else's sends.

And yes, it is exactly like that. Grabbed that chalked jug, no not that jug, the other one, rinse and repeat.

I am just envious of your hard work and stellar results. I've been told hard work pays off, and it sounds like a neato plan, except the training part....
