How do you get your friend to realize they are a great climber who could be advancing their climbing a ton while also entertaining rather interesting goals like climbing every 11 sport route in the Red? This distribution screams untapped potential:

because climbing isn't about the numbers? just a guess, if your incredible friend is having a good time with his inane goal. after all, aren't all climbing goals a bit narcissistic?

How about saying I heard two climbers say...rather than saying the sex of the climber??
For me it is not about climbing something I am strong or weak but about falling in love...I have to fall in love with the movement of the climb, the flow of the climb etc. They sometimes fit my style and sometimes they don't but the attraction has to be there.
"Guys" or "Men" are used in far more examples than women. We aren't bitchin. Besides, as soon as women stop claiming First Female Ascents, we'll talk about equality.
I wonder if Tommy Caldwell has "The Nose: First Male Ascent" on his climbing resume?

hmm, i think he should!
and, tutugirl, perhaps to shame us with recognition in that story?
to be fair, the other lady in question's project of the day was a route that was quite reachy for her, and she just kept climbing it till she got it.
me, though, i have no excuse. well, i have one- i'm not very strong, how about that? pretty good at readin' standstone, pretty good at using holds, but not very strong, overall.

But that is the point, he is chasing numbers, not how well he can climb. I will support him no matter what, but he will get hell for it.

I don't believe in FFA either...I think it should be one FA and that is all.

yeah but what if this person is simply building a large base of skills by doing some silly project that will later pay dividends when they may start crushing?
