I'm pissed I didn't get one. Why was the rope so cheap?

uhh, maybe defective? No, seriously I'm guessing a color mistake, thus a 'blem in their stock. Or just overstock of a rope that just didn't sell. Or a great holiday spirit to help out poor dirtbag climbers in need of a cheap rope. Take your pick.

Correction, PMI makes a crappy rock climbing rope. As far as their static ropes, PMI Pit rope is the best rope you can get for vertical caving, and it is practically the standard in the caving world. This is because PMI Pit ropes have a nylon sheath, and pit caves have lots of sharp edges. You still need to use rope pads, but if the rope slips off of the pad, you are a whole lot safer than without a nylon sheath. My brother went on a trip and his PMI Pit rope ended up slipping off of the rope pad on to a sharp edge, and there was just a tiny bit of minimal wear done to the sheath.

Wasn't PMI formerly owned by Petzl or vice versa?
