I used to have to park in a break-in hotspot at my old UK art studio. To avoid having my windows smashed in for absolutely nothing I would just leave them rolled completely down with doors unlocked. Works pretty well, although one time my drivers side got smashed out with the passenger rolled halfway down- morons, go figure. Of course don't leave anything in the vehicle and hope it doesn't rain.

As far as stakeouts go... maybe not running out of the woods with a gun but, perhaps, have a camera with a long lens and go undetected to document the act itself, the perp's face, and the perp's vehicle & license plate to give to the Sheriff? Would that do any good?

If it rains, I wonder if they'll still be out and striking.
