We're not still there. The Iraq War ended ten months ago. The last US troops left Iraq December 17th, 2011.
And this is going to sound contradictory also, but I think that one party needs to have house, senate, and presidency.....whichever party that is. when there is split party power, nothing gets done. Neither party wants the other to succeed. At least if one party had complete control, then blame could be easier to assign.
I understand the sentiment, but I think your feeling is just the result of hearing the loudest A-holes (Bachmann and Tea Party Friends). Sure, they're the loudest, but I think the majority of politicians have some capacity to work together--at least to the point where it is not worth having one party dominate.

I agree, it's really the teabag crew and their absolute refusal to compromise that are driving the US into the ground. At least "traditional" conservatives seem to have a brain and care about the well-being of the country a little bit. A teabagger, on the other hand, is the political equivalent of a suicide bomber...

while the economy is no doubt important, it is not the only thing happening in and about the Oval Office. keeping that in mind, here is a concise listing of Obama's major failures as CiC.

pigsteak wrote:Obama is no bill clinton...not even close. There is a great article in last weeks Newsweek about why obama needs clinton. It basically says that the dem party has swung way left pandering to those living off of entitlements and narrow social agendas, and they have lost the centrist vision bill had for the party. Good or bad, the lefties are alienating the middle just like the righties.
this is space-eating editorial drivel. define the "Left". what is a Centrist Vision? what is the "Right"?

please include useful examples.

That list is kind of a joke. They blame Obama for continuing the war in Afghanistan, yet also blame him for pulling out of Iraq. I don't get it, are wars good or bad? Doesn't matter if you're convinced that Obama is the devil, anyway.

And by the way, the way he handed Libya was no failure--I think everyone's pretty happy with how that turned out. 100,000 Libyans' lives were saved, not to mention we weren't drawn in like we were in Iraq and Afghanistan. If only Obama had been president in 2000....

Yeah, things turned out great in Libya. So great that they just murdered our ambassador and three other Americans as a thank you.

"protesters scaled the wall of the U.S. Embassy and pulled down the American flag in anger over the video, produced in the United States, which protesters said mocked the prophet Muhammad. "

Protesters -- how often do we attribute a mob's attitude to an entire nation's attitude?

Murder as retribution for depicting a god--there is a lot less logic involved in this than you're giving them credit for, LKD.

This seems to be be another case of hearing the louder minority overcoming the quieter majority (the first being my Tea Party example earlier).
