so I see in the online guide that Golden Touch was allegedly chipped. Any of the old crusties know the truth to that? was this rule breaker demoted to mere sport climber status?

The moral of this story: if you are going to accuse someone of chipping, name them and do it in the online guide anonymously, where apparently no one notices or cares.

This reminds me of the whole Team Suck Vs. Team Muir thread last year or year before last. Basically some toes were stepped on, feelings were hurt, names were called, threats were insinuated, etc. etc.. What was the outcome? who cares, it was all kids stuff, and as a internet spectator, who has friends on both sides, I thought it was so highschool, but like this thread, it just kept going and going.
The very first thing I did as a climber was come to the Gathering. Rick and Liz treated me better than family and in return, they are now cosidered family to me. They have never asked me for anything and they have given me everything. I have a safe place to climb with my wife, daughter, and obviosly, some of you. I made my first send at Rebel Camp, bruise brothers wall, what a great day that was, hooked ever since. I realise evrybody has an opinion about the Webers, Muir Valley, and the recent decision on the dog issue and this alleged chipping. ANYONE who knows the offender but wont speak up is a punk, if it's your friend, I understand the whole not being a Rat thing, but if they owe you nothing or you owe them nothing, then give up the name. This whole thread is bullshit!!! Do the Webers walk on water??? No, so take the cross down, well need the wood.
They are human just like anyone else, they have the same feelings as all of us, so did Rick sound defensive, probably, but with good reason, he was attacked, plain and simple, it was subtly done, but attacked none the less, and even worse, he was fighting several fronts at once. How fair is it that his character, dignity, and personality were in question, and only a few of you, who claim to respect and love them in other threads, barely came to they're aid, or just made sure the Webers knew you were not on the attack, just to keep your climbing status in Muir safe. I hope this was not just a few jack asses stirring up shit just because they can, Karma's a mother fucker, and I know most of you believe it, so you know how it goes.....Rick and Liz, for what it's worth, thank you for all you do, and as always, if you need me, I'll be there......Gunny

After reading between the lines, I thought the moral was going to be: It's cool to be against something until someone you are close to does it.
