Al was looking good. We thought he might pull a solo gig being at church funderaiser and all. No dice, he rocked out. Even made a encore cover of Beast of Burden sound....fun. He suffered from Hep C several years ('04 / '05) ago, but has since made a pretty full recovery.
And yes, THE Peter Buck guitarist for REM. McCaughey played a lot with REM before their demise. He's in several bands, including Minus 5 with Buck. Word was they drove up from Athens together to play the gig. He looked like a politician shaking hands, signing autographs, posing for picture with couples and their babies aftet the set. He was great.
It was a crazy good line up for FREE music, I always knew the Catholics were good for something.

I see they are still lopping off mountains in Eastern Kentucky. Electricity isn't cheap.
