The whole reason I even took a look at this thread again was because I heard about one of the people who were killed in the WTC on 9/11. His name was John O'Neill. He was working for the WTC itself and was at a breakfast meeting there discussing anti-terrorist strategies when the planes hit.
Up until August 2001, he was FBI Deputy Director focusing on Counter-Terrorism. He resigned from his carrier at the the FBI because of his frustration with the Bush administrations inaction on fighting al Qaeda. He was one of the many people left over from the Clinton fight against bin Laden who were 'running around with their hair on fire' about al Qaeda who were ignored by the Bush administration.
I know that a lot of people have a hard time believing that the 'softie, Liberal' Clinton administration was actively, quietly fighting al Qaeda or that the 'Texas swagger' Bush administration did nothing about al Qaeda prior to the 9/11 attacks, but sadly that's exactly what happened. It's safe to say (and ironic) that John O'Neill wouldn't have been in the WTC on 9/11 if the Bush administration had paid attention to his warnings about al Qaeda.
fahrenheit 9/11
what gets me is that "I" knew of the plans that said f...heads were intent on using aircraft as weapons, hell that crap had been in the news for years before 9/11, State Department and security breakdowns enabled them to do it, Saudi Arabia and the cleric run government of Iran are not our friends. Convert or Perish? Fuck Islam
tom,
excellent points....
I still stand by my wager...prove that Bush knew he was lying, and $100 is yours.
not so fast on the uranium claim...didn't British Intel, and Russia just say this week that they still believe this to be true?
It is easy to call people liars when they don't agree with our political motives, but for me, it merely destroys the credibility of the mudslinger. I used to hate it when conservatives would call Clinton a liar over the Monica thing, and then extrapolate that out that he was therefore a bad President, and lied on everything else..I say give me proof.

Positive vibes brah...positive vibes.
Sorry, Piggie, I read and reread that but I still only see a letter from some senators. I'm looking for the 20% and "drastic" cuts thing you mentioned earlier. Try again, or don't post that kind of thing.pigsteak wrote:"[WE] urge you, after consulting with Congress, and consistent with the U.S. Constitution and laws, to take necessary actions (including, if appropriate, air and missile strikes on suspect Iraqi sites) to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq's refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction programs." - Letter to President Clinton, signed by Sens. Carl Levin (D-MI), Tom Daschle (D-SD), John Kerry( D - MA), and others Oct. 9,1998
"We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction." - Sen. Ted Kennedy (D, MA), Sept. 27, 2002
Let's start with this for FACTS....
Sorry to bring a dead horse to life... I just thought I'd mention that I watched Bush's speech this morning and it made my head hurt and my stomach turn. He sounds like a friggin' broken record and sidesteps any questions whose answers don't involve the theme "We're gonna kill 'em all and make America safe!"

How about the fascinating timing of Tom Ridge's announcement about raising the terror alert (on 5 buildings in 2 states)? Not a week earler, not a week later. What do we think the odds are that we'll be seeing Mr. Ridge making a pronouncement a day or two after the first debate in which Kerry wipes the floor with the Shrub?
Bacon is meat candy.
Yeah, I can tell you that I'm pretty nervous, now that they've raised the color to orange. I was gonna step outside today, but I figure since I'm in California and all, it probably wouldn't be too wise. So I've decided to spend the remainder of my vacation underground in the brand _new bomb shelter we ran out and purchased.
