Nit - loved your story! Perfect comedy relief for the thread!!

I agree with pigsteak - climbers will not police themselves, how is that not obvious?

Hey dumb and dumber, you guys are forgetting this is Dr Bobs land and all the good intentions and plans are just a waste of time unless he is on board. At this point he doesn't even want a group of people committed to help think of solutions, let alone have more people wandering around his property all day.

Could we end this post already? Same ole, Same ole. Last I checked Torrent is still open for registered climbers, follow the rules and it will more than likely remain so. Don't follow the rules and it will more than likely close. Torrent may not be your cup of tea, if not, don't drink from it and go someplace else. If you do, just follow the rules. Don't be so damn dense.

DuppyC, if this thread is not your cup of tea don't read it. i can't conclude that the people who are causing the problem read the thread.
climb2core, i don't know what is being lost in the exchange, but my suggestion requires neither a new solution nor more people walking around his land. simply, it uses the rrgcc to do what one of its missions is and does it by following the rules for use of Torrent. Dr. Metheny won't have to lift a finger, and climber's police themselves.

but i agree, if stating the obvious is sufficient, game over.

Our mission is to ensure open, public access to ample, quality outdoor rock climbing opportunities to meet the needs of current and future climbers ..., on ... privately owned land by protecting, promoting, and ensuring responsible climbing

why do you think nothing is solved?

I might be naive, but I can't see a scenario where people are assigned shifts to enforce the rules being sustainable past one or two outings. I mean, really?
