JH is just as allowed to doubt the Coalition's intentions as others are to promote it. And who's to say he's providing a wrong image of the Coalition? It's one viewpoint, that's all. I'm not trying to start a war or say I agree with one side or the other, but I do believe we are all entitled to an opionion and freedom of expression.
Do you all really think JH's opinion can really influence enough people to damage the RRGCC's integrity? That's saying a whole lot for JH then.
a few Questions for the RRGCC
I ditto Artsay. The RRGCC's integrity is not going to sustain or die because of one person's opinion as to its actions. It is better to have a vocal opposition than to have a festering community working to undermine you. That's my opinion though. Also, it seems to me that JH is not opposing the RRGCC just asking for answers, in his own way. Disagreeeing with an organization and questioning its actions is not going against it. In fact, I believe that if you truly care about something or someone, you look for ways to make it better. It's constructive criticism. Maybe some people do not like the way he goes about it. Still, that does not make it wrong.
Jesus only knows that she tries too hard. She's only trying to keep the sky from falling.

Well, I've met some of the big....er...brothers...keeping an eye on this forum, and I just don't see him changing anyone's mind. I can't say he's not trying to, just that he's probably not succeeding.rhunt wrote:My point is that, we as a climbing community are being watched by big brother(NFS) and JH is making us look bad in their eyes.
I mean, is he changing yours? Even coming close? Are you expecting a mass exodus from the coalition on the basis of his...well he hasn't put up any arguments, just questions...I guess we were all supposed to drop our chins on the floor at these new and penetrating questions that nobody except him ever thought of, or had the courage to ask before.
Either that or else we're all in on it. Yup, secretly buying up all the climbing spots so we can get rich off of broke-ass college students.
Ut oh.,..I've said too much....
Most of us have probably thought of and had those same questions. The difference is we asked them directly to Shannon or someone else in the RRGCC. And we did't just post a bunch of crap on this forum just to get attention.
I really don't think this web page is the place to seek out info about the RRGCC.
AGAIN...try www.rrgcc.org

"Climbing is the spice, not the meal." ~ Lurkist
I have not bashed the CC. I just asked some questions. I tried to ask these questions in private, no one knew the answers or didn't care to answer them if they did.
I asked several people who are deeply involved in the CC " what is the non-profit status of the CC?"
CAC/Board/CC member would say,"they are a non-profit entity."
I would then ask,"Where is their tax-exempt number,or where can I find it?"
CAC/Board/CC member would say"That has been aplied for."
I would then ask,"haven't they been in existance since 1997 ?"
"Yes." they would respond.
"They are waiting on paperwork since 1997 ?" I would disbelievingly ask.
"These things take time. You know how slow the goverment is." was the response.
This is how several conversations on the subject went. I then would ask about the CC hiarchy. I never recieved an answer that even remotely sounded informed.
So what was I suposed to do? Keep my head down and work real hard and not ask questions? One of my most messed up experiences is trying to ask questions of the CC. Whether in private or in a public forum. I get the same response. "I don't know .The CC has done so much for climbing, you should just work and donate and give unquestioningly." On this board I got 11 pages of "Shut the F*** up!", and 1 with some of the answers to my questions"
I'm sorry, I don't trust people that much and when I ask questions and get the response"I don't know .The CC has done so much for climbing, you should just work and donate and give unquestioningly." It makes me suspicious. I have found that the majority of the vocal people in the CC are elitist, exclusionary and very secretive.
Those traits make people suspicious. Naturally so.
